Thursday isn’t loud. It’s quiet. Intentional. Almost tender.
This is the night Jesus shares a final meal with His disciples—the people He had walked closely with, laughed with, taught, and loved.
And knowing what was coming… He doesn’t withdraw. He leans in.
Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love. - John 13:1
He washes their feet. Which, in that culture, was the job of the lowest servant. And yet here is Jesus—Teacher, Leader, the one they called Lord—kneeling down, one by one, washing dust-covered feet. Even Judas’s. Even knowing what Judas had already set in motion.
It’s hard to fully grasp that kind of love. A love that serves. A love that stays. A love that doesn’t change—even when it knows it’s about to be hurt.
And then, at the table, He breaks bread and shares the cup. Not just as a ritual… but as a promise. What was about to happen...the pain, the cross... it wasn’t random.
It was intentional.
And whether you’ve believed this for years… or you’re still unsure what you think about Jesus… there’s something deeply human in this moment. Because we all know what it feels like to wonder: "Would someone still stay… if they really knew me?"
This night answers that question in a quiet but powerful way. He already knows. And He stays anyway.
I'm so thankful He stays anyway
A Quiet Reflection
What does it feel like to consider that you are fully seen… and still not pushed away?
Is that easy to believe… or hard to trust?
A Simple Prayer (if you’re unsure what you believe)
God,
If this kind of love is real… a love that sees everything and still stays…help me understand it.
It’s hard to believe that I could be fully known and still accepted. But if that’s who You are,
help me begin to see it, even in small ways.
help me begin to see it, even in small ways.
Amen.
A Simple Prayer (if you know Him)
Jesus,
Thank You for loving me to the very end, not based on my perfection, but because of who You are.
Thank You for loving me to the very end, not based on my perfection, but because of who You are.
Thank You that nothing about me surprises You, and yet You still draw near.
Help me receive that love more deeply, and reflect it in the way I love others, with humility, grace, and patience.
Amen.
