Holy Week – Friday: Love That Chose the Cross
Friday is hard.  There’s no way around that.
This is the day Jesus is betrayed, arrested, beaten, mocked… and ultimately nailed to a cross.

He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins ... and by his wounds we are healed. - Isaiah 53:5

And if we’ve heard this story before, it can become familiar, almost too familiar.  But when you pause and really sit with it…It wasn’t quick.  It wasn’t clean.  It wasn’t distant.  It was real suffering.  And here’s what’s easy to miss:  Jesus wasn’t caught off guard.  He wasn’t overpowered.  He chose to stay.
He could have walked away.  He could have stopped it, but He didn’t.  Not because He had to…but because of love.
And whether you believe this fully, partially, or not at all…there’s something deeply moving about that kind of choice.  A love that doesn’t turn away when things get painful.  A love that doesn’t protect itself at the expense of others.  A love that stays… even when it costs everything.
The Bible says, “by his wounds we are healed.”  And maybe that raises questions.  What does that even mean?  Healed from what?
For some, it’s about forgiveness.  For others, it’s about the weight they’ve been carrying for years.  For others, it’s the quiet sense that something isn’t right inside… and never has been.  This day tells us something important:  Whatever is broken…whatever feels heavy…whatever feels beyond repair…God didn’t stay distant from it.  He stepped into it

A Quiet Reflection:

What feels heavy for you right now?  Not what you think should feel heavy…but what actually does.
What are you carrying that you’ve just learned to live with?

A Simple Prayer (if you’re unsure what you believe)

A Simple Prayer (if you're unsure what you believe)
God,
If what happened on the cross really means something…if it was done out of love…then help me understand why.
I don’t have all the answers, but I do know there are things I carry that feel heavier than they should. If You’re real…meet me there.
Amen

A Simple Prayer (if you know Him)
Jesus,
Thank You for choosing the cross—for not walking away when it cost everything.  Thank You that You stepped into my brokenness instead of leaving me in it.  Help me not rush past what You did…but to really sit with it, to remember, and to receive what You made possible.
Teach me to live in the freedom and healing You died to give.
Amen.

Tomorrow (Saturday) will feel different again…
It’s quieter. Almost uncertain.
But it’s also where so many people find themselves...in the in-between.
